Program Proposal for "Words to Pictures"
Process:
Preliminary discussion with your media director or other representative.
My program can be tailored to follow a school's chosen theme.
Advance notice of two months minimum is requested.
Assembly Choices:
1. Slide, discussion presentation of my work process from manuscript to finished illustration.
2. The business, psychology & process of illustration: High school, college & adult workshops.
Classroom Choices:
A.) Interactive development from Words to Pictures.
1. A fable, tale, nursery rhyme or story paragraph is pre-chosen by me with the school.
2. The class & I study & play with the written words.
3. We work together to create the illustration. Included & adjusted to grade levels are: composition, color, line weight, page/picture format, dark/light values, & character development. Awareness & adjusting of these elements gives a picture more punch, power & emotion.
or B.) Developing Characters
1.Class is guided through steps. Interactive questions.
Follow-up Project: At the end of the process, each classroom teacher will receive a page description of a project that coordinates & further develops the process from our time together.
Goals: Build student self-esteem & confidence as the young people gain familiarity, comfort & humor in the process of story &/or character building.
